This beautiful brooch dates from the 1930s and is a very intricately designed piece. It has held up beautifully over the last 70 years or so, all of the paste stones are intact, the green glass emerald cut stones show no signs of chips or other damages and are prong set. It's been a long time since I saw a piece of this era in such good condition.
The fleur-de-lis design centerpiece appears to be a brass stamping and may have been goldwashed. It bears remnants of a lacquer finish, with mild discolorations where the remaining lacquer has darkened. It is not obvious to the eye though, being visibile only through a magnifying glass.
The pot metal color is still quite good as well, and the clasp is secure. Paste stones do yellow some with age and these are no exception, but I have not found any evidence of past damages or chips to the stones. The settings are of the pave type, with the paste stones set in for accent.
The brooch measures 1 7/8 x 1 5/8" All jewelry purchases are securely box shipped and insurance is included for you in the price of the shipping for this piece.
